Job Role: European Road Freight Operator

Location: West London

Salary: £30,000 - £34,000

RG Freight Recruitment are working on behalf of a specialist client to recruit a European Road Freight Operator to join the team based in West London.

This client specialises in the storage packing and transportation of fine art and fragile valuables across the world.

With warehouses located close to Heathrow and the London gallery and museum district, they are ideally placed to serve this niche sector

They are now looking to recruit a European Road Freight Operator to control and administrate European export and import road freight using their own vehicles and trusted European agents

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and complete European road freight shipments.

  • Keep up to date on all HMRC and other legislation and company procedures, to complete all necessary documentation and keep all records accurately.

  • Complete road freight (import and export) declarations.

  • Arranging collections and deliveries with the client in consultation with the Transport Manager and make practical arrangements to support the collections and deliveries.

  • Arranging packing in suitable manner, supplying packing department with full packing sheets and relevant information.

  • Collating and checking quotes from suppliers.

  • Keeping clients informed of shipping departures and arrivals

  • Ensuring that all shipping documents are completed in a timely manner and that all clients receive relevant copy documents.

  • Informing management of any short shipments or any changes to original shipment plan.

  • Getting involved with European exhibitions

The Person

  • Experience of operations in European road freight - import and export

  • Sound knowledge of HMRC customs regulations and procedures

  • Experience of customs clearances

  • Good knowledge of European geography

  • An interest in art is a bonus!
