Salary: £25,000 - £30,000

RG Freight Recruitment are working on behalf of a transport and logistics operator to find an experienced Customs Clearance Broker to join the team in Litchfield.

This client offers a comprehensive range of transport and logistics services with a focus on palletised distribution. With daily services across Ireland, the UK and Europe, they are one of the largest palletised distributors in their sector.

They also offer a full import/export distribution across the whole of the UK and Ireland including a comprehensive customs clearance service.

They are now looking to strengthen the customs team in Litchfield by taking on an experienced Customs Clearance Broker.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare and process import and export documentation according to the relevant Customs regulations

  • Process both simplified and complex declarations

  • Classify goods according to the TARIC system

  • Calculate duty and tariff payments owed on shipments

  • Advise importers and exporters as to the steps required to expedite the Customs process for their shipments

  • Keep up to date with developments in import / export regulations

The Person

  • Minimum 3 years recent Customs Clearance experience with a busy freight forwarder or agency is essential

  • Experience of filing Export and Import declarations on the new CDS system, filing pre-lodged and post-lodged entries and raising and closing a TAD

  • Experience in Logistics environment is preferable

  • Fluent English (both written and verbal)

  • Excellent administration and communication skills

  • IT-literate with experience of freight management software

  • Ability to work on own initiative and meet strict deadlines

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing demands
